API Terms of Service
Last updated: July 28, 2026
These API Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the PickleStats API and related documentation, dashboard, and services (the "Service"), operated by Pickle Stats ("Pickle Stats," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, subscribing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it. You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep it current, and you are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
2. API keys & credentials
Access to the API requires an API key. You are responsible for keeping your keys confidential and for all usage and charges incurred under them. Do not share your keys or embed them where they can be extracted by third parties. Notify us promptly of any suspected compromise; you can rotate a key at any time from your dashboard. We may revoke or suspend keys that we reasonably believe are compromised or being used in violation of these Terms.
3. License to use the API
Subject to these Terms and your active subscription, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access the API and use the data it returns to build and operate your own applications. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.
4. Acceptable use & restrictions
You agree that you will not, and will not permit others to:
- resell, sublicense, or redistribute the raw data in bulk, or use it to build or offer a competing dataset or API;
- scrape, cache, or systematically download the data in order to reconstruct or replicate the underlying database;
- circumvent, disable, or exceed rate limits, quotas, or other access or usage controls;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code or underlying structure of the Service, except as permitted by law;
- use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or infringing purpose, or in violation of any applicable law or third-party right;
- interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to it.
5. Rate limits & quotas
Each subscription plan includes per-minute rate limits and a monthly request quota, as described on our pricing page and returned in response headers. We may throttle, or return errors for, requests that exceed your plan's limits, and we may adjust limits to protect the Service. Sustained abuse may result in suspension.
6. API changes, versioning & deprecation
We may add, change, or remove endpoints and fields over time. We version the API (e.g. /v1) and aim to avoid breaking changes within a version. If we deprecate a version or make a breaking change, we will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 90 days' advance notice. We are not liable for changes made to address security, legal, or operational needs.
7. Subscriptions, fees & billing
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your payment method until you cancel. Fees are stated exclusive of taxes, which you are responsible for. We may change pricing on a prospective basis with notice; changes take effect at your next billing cycle. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable.
8. Cancellation & termination
You may cancel anytime from the billing portal; your access continues until the end of the current billing period, after which your API keys are deactivated. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms, non-payment, or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.
9. Accuracy & no warranty on data
The data is aggregated from multiple sources and provided "as is." We do not warrant that it is accurate, complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose. Some records are flagged as lower confidence (for example, needs_review). You are responsible for validating the data before relying on it.
10. Intellectual property
The Service, including the API, software, documentation, and PickleStats name and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you no rights to our trademarks or branding. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use them without obligation to you.
11. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers (for example, Stripe for payments and mapping providers for geocoding and maps). Your use of those features may be subject to the third party's terms, and we are not responsible for their services.
12. Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service you consent to that processing.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. No uptime or service-level commitment applies unless separately agreed in writing.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR $100 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US ANYTHING. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your applications, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days' notice before they take effect (for example, by posting the updated Terms with a new effective date). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
17. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. If you have a dispute about the Service, you agree to first try to resolve it informally by contacting us. Any dispute not resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Missouri, United States.
18. Miscellaneous
These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
